The color that I get the most bang for my buck out of is actually the red. I own a few colors of the Hunter boots as you can see here. You also get the added bonus of the adjustable boots also coming in a variety of fun colors. They sit directly under the knee which means you still get the look of the tall original without losing the height like the huntress. The strap for these is actually a “gusset” in the back that allows for more room to breathe without sacrificing style with the strap on the outside of the shoe. The wide adjustable is my favorite of the fits. Don’t give up hope though, the colors tend to come in and out each season. The only draw back is the Huntress boots no longer come in the fun colors that Hunter is known for. You can see how low they are on my calves compared to the taller adjustable boots. They are also a great option for petite curvy girls as they are a bit shorter than the original Hunter boot while still allowing room for a larger calf.
More than enough room for my favorite jeans and still stylish. The opening of the size 9 calf is a 46 in.
HUNTER GIRLS TALL PLUS
I am not technically plus size but can say this fit would be a great Hunter Boot for a plus size girl. I purchased mine in red and they have been a staple in my wardrobe ever since. The strap for the Huntress is a webbed fixture on the outer side of the boot. The Huntress has a wide fit calf and lower height. I’m not often cold but even if you are not cold or gardening, make sure you wear a sock so the rubber doesn’t irritate your feet. Since Hunter boots are not warm, you are going to want to buy thick socks if you live in a colder climate or if you are just cold often.
Instead of adding 6mm, I just went up half size for that reason. The additional room also allows for air to circulate in the toe of your boots to keep the heat in. Speaking of being a size 9, I am a true 8.5 but Hunter recommends you add 6mm to the size of your foot when predicting size to allow for room and movement. (Full disclosure: I owned them before I gained weight but even then the fit was tight enough that I knew they weren’t right for me). As you can see from my measurements, that’s way too small. I’ve owned the original tall Hunter boots and they were lovely but the calf is 39.4 cm for my size 9 boot. Measure in those and then check out Hunter boot’s sizing guide. Because I have put them through their paces. It’s where my Hunter boots really shine and prove their value. I measured in my favorite pair of jeans which are a pair of overalls I wear to do yard work. In my favorite pair of jeans, they are ~46 cm or ~18.5 in., which makes a world of difference. My calves are ~43 cm or ~17 in at their widest point. I would factor in either a thick sock or your favorite pair of jeans for the most accurate measurement. But do you plan on just wearing hunter boots with your exposed calf? More than likely not. I say this because whenever someone messages me, they say, “my calf is X inches around”. (Though I would make a very large exception for a pair of the cute little yellow Hunter boots). Over the years, I’ve owned all of the taller boot styles and have opted out of the short ones because I tend to live in L.L.
